This diet was personalized to me by my doctor and is meant to be anti-inflammatory.  Please consult your own doctor before starting any new diet.

DO NOT EAT:

red meat

animal dairy (butter, cheese, ghee, yogurt, milk, etc)

processed starches (bread, pasta, noodles, pita, tortillas, chipati, naan, cookies, crackers, chips, bars, flours, etc)

powder proteins/ powder foods

sugars/desserts (including natural sugars like fruit and honey)

alcohol

gluten

wheat

oats

yeast

juices

soda

soy

potatoes, yams, corn

coffee

sauces

kombucha/ fermented foods

YOU CAN EAT:

vegetables (except potato, yam, and corn)

nuts/ nut butters/ seeds

legumes/ beans (in limited quantities)

lime/ lemon/ avocado/ tomato (the exceptions to the No Fruit rule)

herbs/ spices

self-made nut flours

vegetables prepared with a dehydrator

olive oil/ avocado oil (these are the only oils allowed)

raw apple cider vinegar (this is the only vinegar allowed)

hummus (in limited quantities)

cauliflower rice

tea, water, sparkling water

lean proteins (lean pork, chicken, turkey, fish, shellfish)

eggs

almond milk

quinoa, millet and teff (only grains allowed)

When I first saw this list, I just about died.  There’s a lot of what you can’t have on here, and it makes it very difficult to eat out.  Having said that, I have discovered a lot of great recipes that do follow the diet.  I will post them on the blog as I go.  It is possible to eat clean and eat well.  If less inflammation and less pain are important to you, then at least give it a try.
